Daily Devotion — Psalm 51:10

David had just fallen hard. Adultery, deception, murder—he had carved a canyon between himself and God, and he knew it. Yet in the wreckage of his own making, he didn’t beg for a loophole. He prayed for a reconstruction: “Create in me a pure heart, O God. “ Notice the verb. David wasn’t asking God to tidy up the edges or repaint something worn. He was asking God to begin something entirely new, the way a potter reshapes clay that has lost its form. Renewal, at its deepest, is not a fresh coat of paint over old cracks. It is the Spirit moving through the fractures and making them part of the design. Today, if you feel worn by regret or the slow accumulation of compromise, bring that to Him exactly as you are. He is not finished with you. “}
