T strange weight we sometimes carry—the belief that our past mistakes, our failures, our shame are the final word on who we are. But 2 Corinthians 5:17 has a different reality: if you are in Christ, the old has gone and the new has come. This is not a polite update to your old life. This is a complete new creation. The person you were before you knew grace—that version does not define you anymore. What God has joined to Himself in Christ is entirely new. You may still feel the pull of the old ways, still wrestle with familiar patterns of fear or pride or bitterness. That does not mean the verse is untrue. It means the new creation is being formed in you day by day, moment by moment. The old has gone—really gone, really finished. The new is here—already here, already yours. Rest in that truth today. You are not your past. You are a new creation.
